Perhaps a sewing desk that has an extension that goes in back of your machine-so you have more room for quilting a quilt-if you desire. Also with a dropout for your machine-to make it level with desk surface. Plenty of great lighting! Daylight bulbs are great to help show true colors. Do you need a fan or A/C installed-? Plenty of grounded outlets. A comfy chair with good support. Do you need hubby to build you a big board for your ironing board? Build a cutting table with storage underneath? Put up a peg board? Or a portable design wall?
The "Mission: Organization" thread has lots of really great ideas~~~

simply adding PVC extensions onto the legs of the table can raise it up, bracing might be needed but more PVC and you are home free. Take the savings and use elsewhere?

Great overhead lighting, a 24 x 48 ironing board, shelving and large cutting table, design board......suggestions by others as well! Great that you can get an overhaul. It certainly makes the entire quilting process much more enjoyable.

I love having peg board because you can see all your accessories displayed. There have even been examples in the past that quilter's have painted quilt blocks on the white pegboard just like they do on barns.

I agree with others to get a bigger ironing area. It is so helpful...

Trouble is: If Hubby is making the cabinets, the secret chocolate drawer won't be secret!

A friend just had a new sewing studio done in her home. She took over the living room. Her builder friend had built an ironing station and a cutting station for her previous sewing area[family room.] Now they are back to back, so she has room when ironing and when cutting for the material to not get on the floor or in the way.
Also had additional electrical installed and more.

Don't forget one important thing - storage for the fabric

Here's what you do. Buy the big Whitman's Sampler and tell hubby it's the perfect size for storing notions, so design a custom drawer for it. It truly is great for notions. Sometimes I just get a "notion" for chocolate !
