Default Quilt shops in New Hampshire

I am going to Keepssake Quilting in Center Harbor and then heading to Conway. Does anyone know of any quilt shops either near there or in between that I should check out?

You will love KQ in Center Harbor, but it is very over whelming. I googled New Hamshire Quilt shops and came up with many hits. You could try that. Good Luck.

If you have never been to KQ - I agree with Mama Bear it can be very overwhelming - I think it is a two day visit - one day to wrap your mind around how much is in the store and another day to spend buying! Have fun.

Oh boy, I hope someone can help out here!!! I've lost the name of a store that I've been 'itching' to get to. There are a few of them as I recall, some in ME but I think there was one in NH. It's sort of a general store I think but has fantastic fabric bargains and they vary from location to location. My mind wants to say the name starts with "m" which probably means any letter but that HELP, someone!!

YIPEE - looked some more and came up with it: Mardeens http://mardens.com/index.php/stores Rather that being in NH at all, it looks like there are some close to the border - hopefully near where you will be!

Keepsake is nice, but it isn't what it used to be. It used to be a lot larger. Also, Fons & Poter now owns Keepsake. Coming from Maine, there's a shop in Berwick, Maine- Village Quilt Shop that isn't very old but is quite nice and they've now added a yarn store that's attached. In NH there's- Quilting Corner in Tilton, Country Heart Quilters in Plymouth if you like country style, Quilted Threads in Henniker is large and one of my favorites and you will find lots of inspiration there but it's a bit of a drive from Keepsake but well worth going to. If you want novelty fabrics, Bits n Pieces in Pelham has the largest selection. The Bunkhouse in Lyndeborough is quaint and the owner is amazing and she has some nice fabrics and will go out of her way to help you. Four Pines in Claremont is small but gets nice close outs and has great prices and stuff other shops don't have. If you PM me and let me know what fabrics or style you like as well as where all you plan to visit I'd be happy to help you more. There are only a couple of NH shops I haven't been to. Also, if you have time to drive to VT, I highly recommend going to Country Treasures in Chester. If you go, plan to spend hours your first time. I spend more there than Keepsake and you will be on overload in there. Don't let the name fool you, it isn't only country...it's just in the country. They have everything. Also, in VT about 15 mins from there is Waterwheel House and they have lots of contemporary and bright fabrics as well as some nice blenders.

I don't know where you are in Maine, but I was just at Kathie's quilt shop in Sanford and it is beautiful. I am from NJ but vacationing in Kennebunkport right now. See Kathiesquiltshoppe.com

Mardens stores are nice, but you never know what you will find. Sanford, ME and Scarborough, ME seem to have the best fabric selections.

As for shops in the area, it depends a lot on what you consider "near there". We're rather spread out over here, just as you Mainers are, so we think nothing of driving 40-50 miles (only 20 as the loon flies) to get where we want to go. That said, some good choices for shops in that part of our fair state are:

The Quilted Frog in Laconia (opposite direction from where you're headed though)
    The Patchwork House in Tamworth
The Quilt Shop at Vac'n'Sew in Conway
    Country Heart Quilters in Plymouth

Allow extra driving time, that part of the state cannot be sped through...nature is sure to be a beautiful distraction. Enjoy your trip.

There is also The Attic Cat in Effingham, near Ossipee. In Barrington there is The Fabric Garden but that is in a different direction. I am meeting up with some cyber buddies at Keepsake July 7. Let me know if I need to keep an eye out for you too!
