Quilt storage
I recently bought a new mattress pad for our bed. It came in a plastic bag with a zipper. I'm wondering if it would be safe to store quilts in it. I know there have been threads about quilt storage but I don't recall this being brought up. I value your opinions and have learned so much from this board.

I would suggest putting the quilt in a pillow case or a washed sheet but do not store in plastic. I use old suitcases and put them under the bed. They are cloth and breathe. Every time I take them out, I air them, then fold it differently and put it back. Good luck.

Mine are stored in an old china cabinet with glass doors, out of direct sunlight. I like to walk by and see the fruits of my labors. I use every quilt in there so it keeps them handy for family or friends to use.

Plastic bags are ok for short term (like in the mail), but never for long term, because if there are temperature fluctuations, humidity trapped inside the bag can condense on the plastic, and cause mildew in the fabric against it.

I hear any plastic, (bins or bags) is a no no. My hubby bought me a cedar lined chest for my birthday, So I keep them in there. I read about a lady that stored unused quilts between her mattresses, but that seems like a not of work to me. LOL.
