I learned by taking a class with Irena Bluhm. She has laminated books that you trace over using a dry erase marker. There are arrows showing how to move your marker. You practice the shapes and then try it on paper before you begin to quilt. You learn to do freeform feathers from the start. See http://www.irenabluhmcreations.com. Leah Day does a wonderful job teaching FMQ on Crafty. Wait until they have a bargain and sign up. it is well worth the money. I particularly like her relaxed approach to FMQ. It has really helped me a lot. Betty Boop
