Default Quilters Enlightenment and Challenge

This morning I grabbed a cup of coffee and headed for the computer. Browsed the board and then went on a long trip of surfing the net. Dreaming of what it must be like to be one of these fine quilters. How I wished that my quilts were as wonderful as theirs. In awe I would look at every last detail on their quilts. As I sat reading articles about Sharon Schambers, Pam Bono, and many others, it hit me like a ton of bricks in the face. These ladies started there quilting journey long ago. They spent time on what matters, actually sewing and doing. Realizing that so much of my time is spent idle, looking, gazing, collecting, wishing, and not hands on experience. Not only does this information highway provide me with information overload, it stops me from doing what it takes to become a "quilter". Osmosis doesn't count! There will be no master piece if the artist never picks up the brush, they'll never be a divine dessert, if the baker never whips up a batch. Dreams are just dreams unless you wake up and take the first step of doing, and failing until at last you find yourself standing in awe of your own abilities. My wish for you today is that you sew, create, and DO what it takes to enhance your quilting skills, take that knowledge that you find here and use it. And while you're doing that I've got a Quilting extravaganza to go to! All the local shops under one roof! Have fun girls I got shopping to do! Can't wait to see what you all make! Fabric here we come.....WOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

They won't let me quilt at work, so this is all I have to fill my down time. Works for me. I learn how to quilt while a work, then I go home and do what I learned "how to" here. Say that fast 5 times.

Hear hear!!! I totally agree, this board is excellent for inspiration, but many times I have spent too long being "inspired" and not enough time getting down and quilty. Thanks for the reminder, I sometimes need a kick in the buns to get going and you just gave me a good boot!

Lea, what a priceless description! Only thing is, we know your quilts are spectacular so you can't fool us! Soon you'll get inspired, drop the surfing and get to quilting.
I confess I read the board when I can't be quilting. Or when I have to do a search on some technique. Or when I need to know what to with a new fabric I just saw on line. Or...
