I'd really like some suggestions for a wedding quilt for my niece. She asked me to do that rather than money or a registered gift. She's a butterfly gal. I don't know if I want to do the block/applique or if I want to do the patch with butterfly quilting...

She doesn't want the traditional wedding ring or double wedding ring. I'm going to try to design my own as I've not found a pattern I really like.

Have you done anything like this (if I described it right)? Have you any suggestions? I'm puzzled because of her love of color, not pastels. Driving me crazy trying to think it through.

Thanks for your help! :-)

butterflies offer such a wide variety of colors, shapes and sizes. I would applique and then echo quilt around them

Found a site with bufferfly pattern done in bright, primary colors. Might try a variation on this.
http://www.sewshop.com/cgi-bin/acart/apple-search.pl?&database_code=db107&prodcodes=c73t,

Scroll down to middle of page for "Bufferfly Flip". Just might work for you.

Thanks for suggestions, have the new site coming up in another window as I type. I'm getting excited to begin since I have to have it the middle of May...I should have started last May! Ah well, that's the way they do things now.

I appreciate y'all's help!

This would look good with a light color.
And I will keep looking for butterfly sites.

Thanks, Misty, so many quilting sites online. I get so confused and, of course, I want them all on my favorites list. That doesn't work so well.
I've got your suggestion coming up in a new tab.
:-)
