A quilting (piecing) + embroidery question re: to Pink Ribbon
Hi All .... fairly new here. Have a lot to learn.
I am a breast cancer survivor.
Any fellow survivor - thrivers here?
A couple of yrs. ago I bought a gob of pink flannels, including some breast cancer prints to make a soft lap quilt for each of my girls. Am thinking it's about high time I get around to putting it together.
I could do a rag quilt, but I'd like it to be nicer than that.
I bought some white flannel also and would like to embroider some breast cancer type designs to incorporate into the quilt.
How does flannel do for piecing? Like pinwheels and such. Or should I stick to plain squares?
Can I "piece" and still do a rag finish type quilt?
Anyone have any ideas?
I'm trying to collect ideas before jumping into this project.
Do you know a good source for breast cancer type embroidery designs?
I'm still "learning" the embroidery technique.
Thanks for your help!

I love piecing with flannel. I washed mine first and starched it good. I also used larger pieces. Rather than do 2 inch HST I used 3 1/2 inch HST. I think you can find plenty of pink ribbon embroidery designs out there. Try google and you can even find free ones.

I am working on a flannel breast cancer quilt at the moment for my cousin who has just gone through a mastectomy. I am using a panel called prayer shawl (I like the pattern for this panel a lot), though there is a panel for Breast Cancer. Here are the links for the two panels:

You didn't say if you embroider by machine or hand? I am assuming by machine? This site has a large selection of awareness embroidery designs from different designers. There are also a couple in the free section. Plus they have regular sales. Not affiliated but a satisfied customer.

P.S. I am a cancer survivor too, but in my other lady parts (endometrial)
