Default Quilting a Spicy Spiral

I finished another SS table topper and would like an idea how to quilt it differently. I usually run a looping line the length of each color. Any ideas? I am not very proficient, but have fun trying. The picture is my first one, not the new one. It is more autumn tones.

Curiously, I just finished one myself a week or so ago (no pictures yet), the second one I've done. Love this pattern. Depending on the fabrics, it truly makes a statement. Actually, I quilted the first And this one in exactly the same manner - SID with a nice solid print fabric on the back. I used a contrasting thread color in the bottom for the printed back which ended up quite attractive and doubles the usefulness of the gift. I did not bind mine as yours nicely shows, but used the "birthing" method, topstitching very close to the edge. A great pattern. Hope this helps.

I might use the seams as feather spines and quilt half feathers in each section.

I have never seen these before - they look amazing! Where would I find a pattern?

Online. Google Cheryl Phillips Spicy Spiral. It uses either a 9 or 10 degree ruler. Mine is 10 degrees, so it's little larger than the 9. I bought my ruler from her, but I've seen them at quilt shops.

The design is so busy that I SID across the runner every other "blade". I also birth mine since that is what the pattern called for.

I just bought the ruler at the Cleveland Quilt Expo, can't wait to try it out.

I just want to compliment you on the great binding job that you did! Feathers using the seams as spines would look nice I think.

I have made several and really like to make them. I will try the feather pattern on the next one I make.
