Singer 301A problem
Yesterday as I was sewing blocks together, I noticed that the sewing machine was racing even when I just barely touched the foot pedal. I called my repair man and he said something about the carbon brushes were probably burned out and I would need a new foot pedal. I told my DH about it and he said let me look at it. Well, when he picked up the foot pedal he noticed that the bottom plate was very loose, so he tightened it up and, guess what, it now sews like a charm. I guess in moving the foot pedal around on the floor, because they do tend to travel, I had loosened the bottom plate. I am now a happy camper. Just a bit of info in case the same thing ever happens to one of my quilting friends.
