Lighting on Singer Sewing machine Heavy Duty Model 5532
Just bought a Singer Heavy Duty sewing machine Model 5532 and the lighting is so dim...good grief...I love the machine ...works beautifully..it is a mechanical which I love. Does anyone have suggestions to improve the lighting? I have a standing Ott light, but use that in another room for my hand quilting.
I just cannot see with the light that is provided with this machine.
Hoping someone can help..does anyone else have this machine and problem?
Thanks, Dee

Having a dim light seems to be it's biggest complaint: http://www.singerco.com/products/224...y-duty/reviews

I agree with the Ecolux light. It is wonderful. Before I got the Ecolux, I had a Bendable Bright Light. I use both of them now. I'd made a couple of quilts with a lot of black (thread, sashings, applique) and my 70 yo eyes had a very hard time seeing. The Ecolux made a huge difference.

I have a bendable bright light attached to my machine plus an Ott light and two other lamps scattered immediately around my sewing area. The lights on the Singer machines are a joke. No one would miss them if they didn't bother to put them on the machine in the first place!!

Bought a light at IKEA for $10. Love it - the base is heavy, the arm is stiff and will stay where I put it. I tried those lights that stick on my machine, but they kept vibrating off. I was never able to get them to stay put.
The IKEA lights come in 3 models - tabletop, floor, and clamp-on. I liked the first one so much I went back and bought 2 more.

I have that machine, too, and I agree that the lighting is the WORST! I put it on a table right in front of a window, but still am not happy with the light. Currently, I'm using an OttLite (flip-up desk style) that I got on sale at Joann's, but it still isn't bright enough to sew in the evenings. I will be checking out lights at Ikea on my next trip to Illinois.
I do love the Singer 5532 machine in all other ways!
