I have cut 450 rectangles,(225 of backing and 225 of variety flannel for front) with the accu quilt. So the fringe is already there. Has anyone made a rag quilt that the pieces were cut from the 6 X 7 inch accu-quilt die? I'v sewed all 225 fron fabric rectangles to the 225 back fabric with an X in the middle. Now I'm ready to sew these together. The fringes seem to be 1 inch in, making it necessary to sew 1 inch seams to put them together??? This would make the finished rectangles 4 X 5 ". Is that correct? Seems like lots of fringe (1 inch long all around). Does anyone know if this seems right before I start sewing them together?
Thanks
Sharon

It's fairly typical to have 1" seams with a rag quilt.

1 inch fringe will work fine. Have fun making rag quilt.

I am in the process of making a rag quilt but I hand cut my pieces. They are cut 5"x5". I an sewing them with 1/2" seams. I am in the process of snipping the seams and it is "ragging" nicely. My finished quilt is 48"x48". It was meant to be just a small "blankie" for my DGD. Missouri Quilt Co. has a good tutorial. I would attach the link but my computer is acting up. May be our nasty weather.

Thanks to all, I sewed them with the 1 inch seams and seems to be perfect.

Merry Christmas!
