Well, I finally finished the top of my first quilt. My husband figureed out the yardage needed for the backing and border (did it in his head--hate that)!
Going to JoAnn's today, what backing is OK--I would like a print.
I plan to get the Warm and Natural batting.
Some friends of mine will be helping me put it together this weekend. Excited but scared to do the next step.

Pat

How big is your quilt? JoAnn's has some wide backing fabric on sale now for 30% off and it comes in prints. The prices are $9.99-$12.99/yd. and they also have the 10% off coupon on your total purchase. Also the queen size W&N batting is on sale for $12.99. Good luck and show us pics!

Congradulations on finishing your quilt top! Can't wait to see it. Luckily you have some support to show you the next steps (sandwiching, basting, etc). I tend to prefer a complementary backing in either a muted floral tone-on-tone or depending on the top design, a fabric used in the top. Warm and Natural is my first choice for batting and luckily it is currently on sale at Joann's. Will it be quilted by you or someone else?

Anything at all is good to use on the back. They don't have to match up. You don't see both sides at one time. Have fun and enjoy your new art. Sounds like DH is involved and supportive so you will have more fun that way

You have been given great advice :D You can use muslin, solid colors, match or not match the front of your quilt. The choice is soley yours :D:D:D
