So, I'm in the middle of machine quilting my first ever quilt and this happens: -

It's really hot here, so I get up mid-sewing, and leaving the quilt in place on the machine go to get a drink. I thought, "It'll be fine, I can come back and just carry on."

Well, my darling nephew who is old enough to know better decides to play a joke on me, and changes my stitch length and my stitch type settings on my machine. I come back and start sewing, only to get a button hole stitch! I spotted it pretty sharpish, but it's made a bit of a mess.

I'm really upset, I've worked so hard on piecing and the quilting because I'm new and I didn't want to make a mistake and now it's like it's been ruined.

Looks like i'm in for an evening of frog-stitching (rip-it rip-it) :-(

Sorry to vent, but I needed to!

Sorry but I can relate!
dog used to sleep at my feet
I got up to answer the phone and
she shifted herself and layed on the foot pedal
sewed a great big tangled mess for me!

I'm sure we've all had pranksters like that some time... but on your first attempt!!! I'm sure after you get the mistake ripped out and get back to the right stiches all will be much better! So sorry!!!

Sorry :( My little boy is 3. I haul my machine downstairs when I want to sew so I can keep an eye on him. Every time I use my machine I always check all the settings lol. Even when I get up and sit right back down. He is so quick. I am sure like your nephew. I turn it off. And unplug it both from the machine and the wall. Those little guys are quick. he has played with my machine more than once and I come back and start sewing only to have an immediate mess. Just rip it out and restart. It happens to all of us with little ones

I think I would have been the lead story on the 6:00 news after that.
