A request for an easy Bargello pattern
Hello ladies, I have never made a Bargello quilt and my pupils would like to have a go at one, does anyone know of an easy starter pattern, not too large, pretty please.

There really isn't much online you might be better off buying a book
this one has some beuatiful ones in it from ones that look small to quite large looking ones

you do get more movement on the larger patterns, but the small ones will give you an idea on how they go together.

Twist and Turn Bargellos by Eileen Wright has several small projects for beginners. They are in the second part of the book and they range in size from a wall hanging to a placemat. I have the book and I think it is a must have for those of us who always wanted to make a Bargello but were afraid of screwing it up. Bargellos are actually quite simple once you Read the instructions. Little did I know that I used Bargello cutting and piecing technique my whole life without even knowing it. Good luck!

The heart bargello I made was easy, tops can be done in a few days- week depending on how often you work on it. The hardest part is the center, but the top and bottom are super easy. I think it is definitely a beginner pattern, you just have to stay organized. its easier to do it by separating each part( top, bottom center) into 5 sections, just go to my started threads and i think I gave the information in one if not you can pm me and I will give you the designer's email because she doesn't sell her pattern on her site, but she is an excellent teacher and I am sure you can email her directly for her pattern

www.quiltville.com has a great scrappy bargello pattern that is easy to understand and looks beautiful when finished.

pretty much all bargello's are easy- they are strips sewn together- cut into strips and arranged- pick up a bargello book like the one Woody recommended. there are a number of books out there. the key to a bargello is a design wall- so as you cut the pieced strips you can hang them side by side, moving them up & down to achieve the pattern you find pleasing. there are a number of bargello table runner patterns for smaller projects.
if you & your students can cut accurate strips & sew a 1/4" seam bargello's are beginner friendly patterns.
