http://www.marshamccloskey.com/juhosc.html scrapmaster ruler for very small pieces.

I use a June Taylor shape cutter most of the time to cut strips and squares from larger scraps.

I have a pretty large selection of rulers but my go to ruler is my 6 x 12.

I've been using Judy Hopkins' original version, the Scrap Saver (it doesn't have the 1-3/8" measurement), ruler for at least 15 years. It DOES NOT have measurement markings, i.e. inches or fractions thereof, only shapes of particular sizes geared toward triangles and HSTs. If you're looking for those shapes, it really is a time saver and the right size, about 4" x 9-1/2".

I won't use a ruler that small for cutting, not enough room for finger safety. I needed stitches after using the 1"x6" ruler for trimming small scraps.

It really depends on the size scraps you want to cut. I did get a 2 1/2 " ruler since I cut a lot of strips for jelly rolls.

Hit the wrong key and posted too soon. I just went to a glass shop and had them cut a 10 inch square and a smaller 2 1/2 x 8 ruler from plexiglass. Both of them tog cost me $6.00. They don't have any markings but are ideal for my purposes. I also have a 7 1/4 square and 3 7/8 for fast flying geese. I do use the 7 1/4 for squares and mark them for HST and square them up with my 6 1/2". Very inexpensive for my purposes.

I have so many rulers stored in a tall basket in a closet in my sewing room and I still buy new ones when I go to a quilt show. I guess it depends on the shape I am cutting, i.e. strips, squares, triangles, etc. I would hate to part with any of my rulers.
