I have the scallop marked out to apply the binding on my quilt I searched the web for tutorials and feel comfortable doing this and know that I need to cut bias 2 1/2 strips my question is how do you join the binding after sewing it around is it done the same way as a square quilt I'm thinking to start in a center of one of the scallops leaving a tail then joining as a regular quilt but that would be joining the binding on a curve somehow joining on a curve has me puzzled thanks

I plan on joining my bias binding in the same manner I do on a straight binding quilt. It is the one where you open up the binding to lay it flat and sew the 45* angle, re-fold and continue stitching the binding. If you think about it, you are applying a bias straight edge to the scallops, so the same join should work. I am looking for a wide back for my scalloped quilt before quilting it this month.

I did watch Eleanor burns video using her vine and scallop ruler good video but she dose not show how to join the binding and jenny from msq has a video on the same ruler she also dose not show how to join the binding I'm with you tartan that's how I do my binding bias and straight so I'm going ahead and cross the bridge when I get to the end thanks for the replys

Easiest way is to sew on a scalloped strip, turn it and stitch it down. The edge would look like a birthed quilt.

I do it the same as the straight binding. I just did a scalloped border and it worked great. Do it at the top of a scallop so you have room to work in. Be sure is the 45 degree angle when joining as you do the rest of your strips.

That is exactly how I did it, and I had no problems. My scallops were pretty large, so the top of the scallop was a very wide, gentle curve.

p.s. This is probably redundant, but make sure you quilt the entire quilt before you cut the scallops.

What a stunning quilt Peggy !!!! I have done scallop borders. I just take a smaller tuck like you do with normal binding. You might just want to make a sample block to practice on.
