    Hi all,

I'm looking for recommendations for good, but not too expensive sewing machines for piecing and fmq. I am looking to buy at least a few to use in my endeavor of teaching beginning quilting (and more). I'd like to be able to offer these classes and to include the use of the sewing machine for those who don't already have one.

Any suggestions to which model and your reason why will be helpful.

    Thanks

    Phyllis

What's the maximum you're willing to pay for a machine?

i would pick up some vintage singers if you're going to be doing classes with them.

you can pick up the Singer 201 which pieces and the feed dog drop for FMQ for around $25-$45 depending on the condition and how complete they are (do they have a case, a cabinet, etc).

check out craiglists for some good deals.

I'll have DH watch craiglist for them. He watches it for lots of other things.

    Phyllis,
The feed dogs drop on the 301's and I used mine to do FMQ right up to the time I purchased my Janome 7700. I have seen several of them on Craigslist between here and Knoxville for around $50.00. Ann in TN

Amazon.com has new Brothers for under $200.00. I have 2 Brother CS6000i. I like it just fine. Sometimes you can get free shipping.

Wow, wish you lived closer. I will think about it though. How much would you like for them not counting shipping?
    Send me a PM.
