I got a great pattern for a table at Keepsake Quilting. You don't really need the instructions if you already have a table, but it helps with figuring out the drop mechanism etc. I could never go back to sewing on a flat table!

That computer table idea sounds very clever.

Since I couldn't think of that, I ended up with a butcherblock island top - 1 1/2" thick walnut. It's gorgeous but does require a serious saw to cut out the sewing machine hole. And I will say that it doesn't rock or sway like my Ikea table does. You might want to consider that factor when you choose the table.

My sewing machine is flush with the rest of the table....same concept as your idea, but much simpler (in my humble opinion.) The keyboard "drawer" is off center but I have room on both sides. LOTS of room on the left side and some on the right.
    That is a good idea!!

Well, I would never use a saw, I would use a router with a template cut to the size of my opening. Woodworking is one of my other passions. tim in san jose

Hahaha! Now you can see why my machine is still on top of the table.

Too bad you're so far away.
