I have used both, the sewline glue as well as elmers glue sticks will dry out and release. At least that has been my experience. So if I glue my hexie's I make sure and stitch them together right away and than press good. Sometimes I need to reglue but it is still faster than basting at least for me.

Maybe because I live down here in the heat of Arizona, but the Sewline glue sticks dried out really quickly. the Elmers glue sticks don't and have lasted quite a long time. Yes, I do store them in my home, not the garage. LOL>

I thought best place to store was the fridge. If dry out tip I have read not tried is to place in a zip bag with a little water and place in fridge.

I store mine in a zip lock from day one. Seems to keep them really well.
