I stopped at an estate sale today - and saw an old singer - like the pretty girls I've seen pics of here. I'm pretty sure the price was just $10. But I thought that it probably needed work, who knows how well it sews, etc, so I didn't grab it. But now I'm thinking that even if I didn't want it, maybe someone here would've loved it. Should I feel guilty?

If you had the money and the room, then yes, you probably will regret not buying it. LOL!! I have been there before! :)

Ok, was it just for the historical value that I should've gotten it - or what is the pull?

Mama, older machines are just wonderful to sew with!!!!
And I was strictly a Bernina user before I joined the board and got addicted to vintage machines :D

Ok. I have an older White - the stitches are a bit uneven, so that's what I figured this would be like. *sigh* I'd go back to grab it, but it's an hour away from here. Wish they weren't open tomorrow - now it will bug me! lol!

If anyone is near Madison, WI.....

I would have. Before I joined this board I had no use for those old Singers. I decided after everything I read here to bid on a featherweight and I am in love. What a great machine. She runs better than I do.

Definitely you should have bought it, unless you couldn't have afforded it. Maybe you can go by tomorrow and see if she still has it, but she probably doesn't.
