I am looking for a quilt pattern, or just a picture of one with the blocks on the diagonal, I have looked through the pics here but I still can't find one. I have a quilt that I am working on but am having a hard time working by memory to really see how I need to place the blocks. Thank you for all your help. I love this forum. :D

You can set almost any block on the diagonal.
Here is a picture of a quilt I set on point with alternate plain blocks.

I did an on point quilt. Even though I had the book it stilll was better for me to lay the squares out and then sew the diagonal rows together from there.

I'm sure there have been discussion on the board about this before... but haven't done a search yet.
There is a formula for figuring out the size of block to cut the triangles for the sides and corners. In my old age, I have to look this up each time I do a quilt on point ;-)

Wow, I did not know there was so much involved in making the triangles for the points. It sounds confusing, hope it isn't as bad as it sounds. Thanks for the info. Beth

I believe all you have to do is add 7/8 to the size of your block and then cut it in half.

The ends should be half triangles (at the 4 corners). I just looked up my pattern and the original size was 3" and the side blocks finished size were 6 (then cut in 1/2). That's why I said before, I had to lay the total quilt out before I sewed it and then sewed in diagonal rows. Whole new mind set! :-) It really played with my mind. It does work out though and the quilt I did for a baby girl came out absolutely gorgeous.
