Singer Model 380 Space Saver Sewing Station with Sewing Machine ?HELP?
#1
What would it be worth? I've done some research without any results for the cabinet or a 380 machine?????? The pics don't help much. I'm not familiar with a cabinet of this nature, and you can't see more than the bottom of the machine...
The "station" is available tomorrow at auction. I won't be going, but my uncle and aunt are. Should I have them bid for me? How much?
It won't be a loss, I suppose, but I'm addicted to quilty/sewy stuff!

the closed pic was saved in the wrong format...here it should be correctly. I remember such a time when I didn't know anything about pics or how to make them work!

I've never seen anything like this, so I searched the web. Found this listing on Craiglist:
http://columbus.craigslist.org/clo/1431393936.html
The cabinet was $1400 new. Looks like a different sewing machine from the one in your picture.
People are often not interested in sewing machines at auction; however, the cabinet is unique and someone may want that -- especially to strip the insides and use it as a tv cabinet or other type of storage cabinet.
Also found this ad from Florida, which sounds like the same type of thing:

I'm thinking it's the cabinet that is Singer MOdel 280 (not 380), not the machine. Basically you should be bidding on the value of the cabinet to you, as the machine may not be anything special (but would be a nice surprise if it were).
Also found this ad in Colorado:

Just from the 3 ads above, the asking price ranges from $250 to $1,000 (for the cabinet). The machine probably has little relative value, but the cabinet is unique.

do my eyes deceive me? do you have to store the machine on-end?
plus, not enough workspace to the right?
no way, jose' :?
(ok. if they can get it for less than $50, it might make nifty storage for something else. and IF you could convert the table surface for pressing or cutting. otherwise, jose' still says no.)

I have that cabinet, when i had to sew in the living room that cabinet kept my sewing machine and projects out of sight when I needed it to look neat I loved it then. now I have a sewing room (never neat) and I still have the cabinet now I put my Christmas decorations out of sight --still in the living room.
