My husband is going to put a 12 ft. counter top with backspash in my sewing room and we are pondering where to have the outlets, above or below the counter. If below is there a hole for the cords to go thru to underneath. I hate to have it all a tangled mess with several cords.
    Thanks for any input.

I would prefer to have them up higher, so I don't have to bend and hunt for the outlet. I like to use cord ties to keep the cords neat :D:D:D

Both places if you can. You can never have too many or in too many places.

I would put them below. But that is my opinion. And as for the cords being tangled, you can use those plastic tie things that the cable company uses to tie wires together. I dont know what they are called Im sorry. But that is how I would do it. Or you could cut a hole in the counter towards the back in one area just for the cords and just use that section of the counter for ironing, etc.

What about alternating above and below. Have a couple down below for sewing machine, lights, etc. and a couple above to plug other items into?

I wouldn't want the cords laying on top of the countertop.

Holes can be drilled in the countertop where you need them and put grommets in them to make them look nice and professional. Purchase the grommets first then drill the holes so you know what size hole to drill.

Another suggestion is to tape a label on the plug in side of each device. When you go to plug in or unplug, you'll know exactly which one you're unplugging! :) I do this in all situation where I have multiple plugs plugged in (by the tv, the computer, the sewing area, game area).

How about plug-ins above the counter top so they are easily available with holes below to corral the cords and keep them neat. If the plug are below, you'll have to crawl under there to plug and unplug.

You want to be careful about above in case you are using it for a cutting table. Could possibly cut a cord.
