spray baste (alternate) drop cloth
Hello all! I was just pulling the goofy plastic "Happy Birthday" tablecloth from the dining table from last night's celebration and ALMOST threw it away when a little light bulb went off... use it for a drop cloth when spray basting! It's probably not large enough for a full-sized/queen-sized quilt... but I usually spray baste smaller projects, and I'm always fighting with all the newspaper pieces... I thought I must post this right away before I forget... soooo, please share your great ideas for successful spray basting?

I use old, knotty king sheets to spray baste. I keep all kinds of cheap vinyl flannel back table cloths for all kinds of reasons. (protect surfaces from DH when he works on gadgets on my tables.......spread in car trunk to protect car from plants hauled in spring or to protect fabric and clothing from dirty trunk!) Painting drop cloths are also useful for these purposes and they are large and cheap!

A quilting group I belonged to in VA made many community quilts. We used the old vinyl tablecloths, with the flannel back, to arrange quilt blocks for the next quilt. Then it could just be rolled up until the next person sewing was available. Then just unroll and it is still arranged!!
