i just put the binding on my quilt and have never had this happen to me before but where i sewed the needle left large stitch holes i used a #14 needle and a new one at that do you think the size of my needle was to big? even though i have used this size before with no problem? also i was thinking has anyone done this before if i get my hole size under control has anyone ever done a meander stitch of some kind on the binding ?? was wondering how it would look

I have never had that happen to me either. What kind of fabric were you sewing on? I only use a size 14/90 needle for flannel. Otherwise I use a size 12/80 needle. A size 14 needle is larger around and would make a larger hole when it goes through the fabric. Try spritzing a little water on it-it will draw up the fabric and the holes should close.

thank you for the suggestion about the water i am sewing on cotton material and warm and natural batting
maybe i grabbed the wrong size needle will go back and check it out and try a differant size

I use a 14 all the time and have never had this problem, only when it wasn't sharp. This will usually come out if you rub it, back and forth. It's not really a hole just fibers pushed :?

i have always used a 14 never had this problem before but since last post i tried a 12 and it did the same thing then i went way down under in my machine and blew some lint out and tried it again and the first couple of stitches looked norn=mal then it happened again do you thinkit could be my machine ?? also this is the first time i have used warm and natural batting could it be that ?

Are you using a different kind of thread, try another kind and see what happens....good luck :D

thank you that is a good idea to try i will try it but unless i got ahold of something by mistake i usually use all purpose dual thread
