I am always surprised when this happens. Awhile ago I bought 2 fat quarter collections from Craftsy. Some of the fabrics were the kind that I thought I would never use. Guess what--? I used almost all of them. It's a good way to open your mind and add something that you never thought you would use. Like so many of you, I tend to be drawn to the same family of colors.

Whenever I am in a secret sister type swap I always put that I like to get other's fabric choices to add to my stash - I do scrappy almost completely and find this peps up my choices.

Decided to buy kits since fabric is hard to find where I live.
But as usual every kit I like is in blues and I prefer greens.

This is interesting to me because I avoid that kind of acquiring because so much is not what I would pick. Have to rethink this.

This is me, too. I don't usually buy FQ's at all; even though I love scrappy they just seem so tiny. Maybe lots of tiny "random" pieces of fabric would be good for my stash, though!

I have learned to buy buy buy when I find a good sale....l if I really like it, I buy whateaver is left on the bolt.....that way, I always have yardage for quilt backings....and most of the time, I can go into my cabinets and find plenty that goes together for whatever pattern I am thinking on doing next .......of course, I love scrappy quilts, so a lot of things match up for those...I know I have saved a lot of money by getting on sale good fabrics and getting all of it....works for me.....

I have never done one of those fabric of the month deals but you made a great point and will rethink it!
