I have a stitch regulator for my Bernina. I have more control without it. It is not worth the price.

Just keep practicing FMQ. You will find your stitches get better and better with each subsequent project!!

They are to help you learn. with practice you don't need them. i have two. will give away if you pay postage.

I agree with the others. Bought my machine because it had one. Never use it. I do better without it.

Have BSR on both of my Bernina machines and they both work well. I have done FMQ without the regulator and although the results were fine, my preference is to use it.

My Bernina Stitch Regulator came with my machine. Probably I would not have bought it if I had had to pay for it separately, but I love it now. I've free motion quilted many a quilt with it and I love how I can go really slow on a fussy part and then buzz around to the next fussy part. Sometimes I go so fast that it can't keep up with me. The stitches just get a little bigger then, but all in all it works great.

I had the fab-u-motion...then the motherboard on my machine died...repairs were outrageous...so then i tried several machines, and believe it or not, a fairly cheap brother changed my life! it has a slider that sets the speed, and it improved my FMQ 1000%...i think the singers have that slide speed control, too....it is a super way to go! I haven't used a foot pedal in 2 years, and not looking back! You can use a foot pedal with them...but it is such a blessing not to have to...I am 58...learned to sew in 4-H at 9....sewed with a foot pedal for 40+ years..but learned how not to very easily!!! So much easier on your back..it's not stitch regulated, per se...but the speed is..so all you have to do id regulate your hand speed...unbelievable!!!!
the model I have is brother sq9050, but as I said, there are other brothers, and singers out there that do the same thing.
