Default Stripes for border??

I would like to use a black background with very thin wavy stripes for a border on a scrappy rail fence. Should I have the fabric all going in the same direction on all four side or keep it running lengthwise all around????

It takes less fabric to run it perpendicular to each side. That is the way I do it because I am always short on fabric.

I think you can do it either way. Personally, if I'm going to miter the corners, I like to keep the stripes running either all perpendicular to the edge or all horizontal. If I'm not going to miter, then I like the look of keeping the stripes running the same direction all the way around.

if you cut all the borders in the same direction, i would put a cornerstone in each corner... then the stripe directions don't 'bump' into each other

Thank you all for your ideas. I can see what you mean, QuiltnNan, about using cornerstones. I should have followed your suggestion.

I love this board. I come here every day. It is part of my morning ritual.
