When I sew over pins my machine skips a stitch right after the pin. The one stitch is longer then the rest of them. My stitch is set at 2.5 but when I go over a pin it looks more like 3.5-4. It only happens when sewing over pins, all the rest of the stitches are fine. What would be causing this? I have changed needles but that didn't help. Everything else is fine.

Thanks

I usually try not to sew over pins. I leave them in until the last second and take them out. I find that going over pins can dint the needle, or even break them. I hope this helps.

well i don't sew over pins. some machines simply don't like them. they can mess up your needle and more.
sorry, but try taking the needles out just before your foot goes over them. just takes a tad more time but worth it.

You could really throw out the timing on your machine going over pins.
Try taking them out at just before your foot touches them.

It's worth the time it takes to take them out.

Definitely take out those pins right before reaching them. You wouldn't want to break the pin and it fly right into your eye. That's a dangerous thing to do, hon.

Sewing over pins canthrow off the machine's timing or break the needle. I try really hard to pull the needle out before I get to that point. If it is a real critical seam, I slow my machine down and sew single stitch mode to just before the needle - then pull it out.

I use a tiny touch of fabric glue on my seams at where the points meet and then butt them together. Works way better than pins, learnt it from a quilt book. Perfect points with this method!

Sewing over pins used to work fine but not anymore.
I dont know if its the newer machines or the pins. I know those long pins with the flat heats do not like being sewn over.
So now I remove them before the needle goes over them.

I always try to remove my pins. My machine doesn't like it at all if I sew over them.
