To slide or not to slide!!! Prices for the "Supreme Sliders" seem a lot for a piece of plastic. What are your thoughts on a clear plastic shower curtain as an alternative?? I found one in my linen closet (while clearing a shelf for a fabric haul I recently got at one of my favorite thrift shops:>)

It will be interesting to hear what people use. I just bought another slider...the small one for 25.00 (5 was shipping) I hate paying that much but I do find it so much easier to FMQ with it.

give it a try. what's the harm... you don't have room to put it back in the closet anyway :)

I thought I heard once about non-stick cookie sheet liners being a less costly alternative.
UPDATE: See other posting about Supreme Sliders - guess my memory isn't so bad after all. They talk about cookie sheet liners.

so true, so true - that shelf is full LOL. Most of the stuff I removed ended up in the donation bag (to go to the thrift shop next week).

Folks those Sliders are made out of Teflon not plastic. That is why they are so expensive. It has been mentioned on the board before that some have had success using the vinyl you can get by the yard at the fabric store and cutting that down to shape. It would be slippery.

The plastic may create some static. Would check first with someone who repairs machines if you have a computerized machine. Not sure it would make much difference ... but ... ???

Think I need a little clarification - We want a slick/slippery surface for the quilt, right?
"Sliders" are expensive because they're teflon-
Plastic by the yard, oilcloth, shower curtain, etc. are cheaper-
Since both have slick surface, what's the benefit of paying $25.00 for an item when a $5.00 item provides the end result (the smooth surface)
