What is a Fat Quarter?
A half yard of fabric cut on the fold to produce a wider yield.

How big is a fat quarter?
18 inches by 22 inches (approximately)

What can be cut from a Fat Quarter?

99 – 2 " sq.
56 – 2 1⁄2 sq.
42 – 3 : sq.
30 – 3 1⁄2" sq.
20 – 4 " sq.
16 – 4 1⁄2" sq.
12 – 5 : sq.
9 – 6 : sq.
6 – 6 1⁄2" sq.

You should be aware that some of those yields will be off if a) the fat quarter is prewashed and shrinks or ravels at all and/or b) the fat quarter was not cut accurately and you have to square it up. Watch out especially for the 2", 3", 4½", and 6" squares.
