Analysis Paralysis About Buying a New Sewing Machine - Need Help
#1
I want (don't really need) a new sewing machine but I'd like some of the newer bells and whistles. I'm so confused.
If I do get one, it'll be computerized, possibly combo sewing/embroidery. I really don't have room to set up two machines. And if I have to pull one out to use it, it won't happen.
Here's where I wonder what you think: Would you buy a machine that had been out six or seven years or one that has been out two or less? My concern is losing support or having the technology become dated too quickly.
Thanks.

The latest & greatest, if you can afford it. The new Janome is fab. The embroidery is the best I have found and you have so many free designs on the web to choose from when you hook up to the computer. It comes with many feet and to buy others does not cost you this months lunch money. Check it out.

What is your price range? No matter which machine you buy, there will be a new one in a short while that makes your technology obsolete - sort of! Just like with computers.
Your best bet is to try as many out as possible. If you can go to a quilt show, it is a wonderful way to explore.
Good luck with your search and let us know what you decide to buy!

I have Husqvarna Viking combo...just remember when your using the embroidery part you don't have a sewing machine and your just sitting around waiting to change thread or waiting for it to finish...If you have another sewing machine at least you can do something else...I have the combo and an extra sewing machine.
The reason I buy Viking is because they are the only machine that has an automatic privot lefting foot. Can't live without it when you do applique

Looking at Viking 875Q, Viking Ruby, Janome Horizon 7700, Janome MC11000SE. Maybe Bernina, but they're priced at such a premium. I'm still struggling with combo or just sewing. I have a Viking 1+ and didn't use the embroidery much but seem to be more interested and see more possibilities for that now.
Decision, decisions...

brother is good..I have the innovis 4000d...It works great..You don't have to remove the embroidery unit in order to sew....There are thousands of designs available...It comes with all the hoops and quite a few feet..It is so easy to use out of the box...

No suggestions here b/c I have a Bernina and am looking for an embroidery only machine.
BUT- I just wanted to say I'm happy for you that you are being "self-indulgent" as you call it!
You obviously worked hard for it- can't wait to see what you get :D:D:D
