The colors come across as soft and soothing.

The pattern is pretty and the fabrics work well in it.

So - it doesn't jump up and down and scream "look at me" - it is more like the person that one is comfortable with and can confide in.

I think it will be a "pleasant companion" for a long time.

Why did your heart sink? I can't see anything wrong with it.
And if we can't see it....

It's a beautiful quilt, but "fess up", what's the problem, I sure didn't see any, I thought maybe one of the light house squares was upside down but they all look great to me. So what is it....!

Thanks all, There is nothing "wrong", it just doesn't have what I consider "close-line" appeal. I know how proud this non-English speaking German woman will be of a hand made quilt. No one in the family (and they were so wide spread, they could barely understand each others dialect,) was familiar with patchwork when I gave a honeymoon quilt to our son and bride at their marriage. I anticipate she'll lug it all over to show to virtually everyone. I just think, from a distance, well, it looses a lot of something.

I like it, not issues here at all that I see. Great pattern to use.

Is it that it's not "your colors", or have your last couple of projects had very strong contrasts? I agree with other posters it is a very pretty soothing quilt that you have obviously spent much time and effort to make. She will love it!
