Are there any other brands of quilting software besides the EQ series? If so are they any good for someone that is not so hot using software?

There is Quilt Pro. I have it and it's a good little program. They also have a version for Mac's.

I have Quilt Wizard only about $30.00 and It is simple but limited. You can usually find it at Joanns

Quilt Pro is supposed to be more intuitive than EQ, but with similar capabilities.

You can also visit freequiltpatterns.info. They have a pattern playground program on the site. It's pretty basic but it's free!
