Have you ever marked one (or more) of your quilts with something called a pounce? I am considering getting one and want to know if it will be worth it. Right now, I am using ordinary chalk and giving it a point with a pencil sharpener.

Hi, Anne. If you do a search (here on the board) you'll see where there have been discussions about pounce. I've wondered about it myself. If I remember right, there were pros and cons from the people here.

i use Quilters Ultimate Pounce. it like a cloth sponge in a plastic case and you put the white chalk inside.

i like it because the chalk disappears when you iron the quilt.

its my favorite means of marking a quilt

I use ultimate pounce too. I love it because it stays where I put it til I iron it off. I love mine and use it a lot. Slowly but surely I am getting a stash of stencils to use with it.

There is a pounce chalk pencil now. It disappears with heat. I've only seen it online not in any quilt shops I've been too. In fact the owner/employees I've asked about it look at me like I'm crazy. I won't spend my money there if the shop does not know what's new in the quilt world. I'll shop online.

I use it sometimes but prefer stencils with dissapearing ink pen.
Pounce is messy, cant get it to work without dust. I did find that if I use a wet cloth on the quilt before I pounce that the chalk sticks better. I have both the white and the blue chalk but they only work on some colors but the pen shows up on many more fabrics.
I also have some chalk pens but they dont work that well either. Havnt figured out how to get them to draw. The one with the wheel works well but only for straight lines.

I use the ulitmate pounce also and I love it. It irons right off when you're done quilting. I now own a variety of stenscils.

i've never found a disappear ink pen that went on smoothly. it seems i have to drag it across the fabric endless before the line can be seen.
