Question Thinking of making someone a quilt who is a movie lover??

Any suggestions, have a wedding coming up and the couple love movies, especially the bride. Not sure how I would do this to make it look like the movies, have thought about film strips (the edges) have fabric for this, but the actual blocks, not so sure. I have to think about this one. Would be happy with lap size or bigger for the couch. Thanks for any ideas here.

What about putting the names of movies on squares, candy bars and popcorn boxes appliqued, ticket stubs, etc.

Oh Sandy! That is a terrific idea. I can almost smell the popcorn. The ticket stubs could have the movie names too.

That would be nice and I am sure they would love it. Now, if I get it done, I will love it. I have seen popcorn fabric, don't remember where or when.

There are panels available with movie stars (Gone with the Wind, Marilyn Monroe, etc). I purchased some music themed fabric from the site, but I am not at home, so can't find it...maybe someone else could help? There were all sorts of movie prints available...my dd used to work at a movie theatre and they have the family room set up as a screening room. I plan to make some machine embroidered throw pillows to go with a quilt for the room.

I had seen some fabric that had the theme Phantom of the Opera, too.

There is a quilt in the quilt store I visit and it is made out of fabric for movies. I do not know the pattern but the fabric has popcorn etc. I will send you a PM about the name of the quilt store if you want to contact her via the web.

Maybe for the backing you could use Wizard of Oz fabric, or Gone With the Wind, or Marilyn, or Elvis, or a combination depending on what you can find. Love the idea of the film strips with squares showing popcorn, cndy boxes etc. Hope to see a picture of the finished product.

You might use photographs of the couple themselves, print them on fabric and make it look like a film strip of the loving bride and groom.
