    Default Problem with walking foot

I have a brand new singer machine and purchesed a walking foot for it from the dealer. The first picture shows the mark the walking foot left on the material when I tried to sew in the ditch. The mark cannot even be rubbed out. The second pic shows how uneven the rows looked using this walking foot. Kind of a seesaw affect. Since I have never used a walking foot before I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Promise me It was installed correctly. When I take the walking foot off and look at it with the teeth in the down position, one set of teeth is lower than the other and if I set it down, it tilts to the low side of the teeth. Any clues?

Can you decrease the amount of pressure your presser foot is putting on the fabric?

I would go back to the dealer and bring the foot and samples - if possible I would also bring the machine. Take some quilt sandwiches with you and show them what you are doing and have them trouble shoot. Make sure you mention that you bought this machine to piece and quilt with and it won't do that maybe you will have to return it!

i've seen posts before about the dirty oily marks on the fabric. IMHO the walking foot should be ready to go out of the box. if it is necessary to run it a while until there is no more oily marking, then there should be a warning on the foot. good luck in getting this resolved.

the two feed dogs on the walking foot should be even... sounds like yours is defective! you should be able to exchange it for one that isn't broken!!

Let us know what happens, I'm curious wether it's a defective foot, sounds like it. I've never seen one do that.

The dealer is going to order me a walking foot that has the "SINGER" logo and we will take it from there. I did tell l him that if he could not get me a walking foot that works, I would need to return the machine. He had actually sent me 2 of them and they were both the same and caused the same problem. Hopefully the next one will work.

Sheesh, that's awful. I hope the next one is good. Must be a bad batch. Maybe describe the bad ones and ask him to check and make sure the next one isn't like them...good luck..
