You can also drop the bobbin into a small bowl placed behind the machine. I've had problems where the thread in the bobbin gets twisted around the spindle.

If the bobbin doesn't fit on the spool holder you can even place it in a coffee cup behind the machine, but thread it as if it were on the spool holder.

I do often when the thread I need is on a bobbin. As long as the bobbin fits on the spool post there is no reason to not to.

I do it all the time to finish thread off a bobbin.

Should work, but I guess you could hand wind it onto a spool if it isn't much

I've been known to do that, no problem on my Bernina.

Honestly, I've never thought about it. I just use something that reasonable matches or is neutral. Good suggestion to use up the thread on bobbins.

Woohoooo.......I used my bobbin thread on the spool holder. It worked really well. I'm so thrilled as I want to complete the tote without having to wait for thread to be shipped to me.

    Thanks so very much!

I'm another one who does this a lot, and it works fine.
