I just found out AllBrands here in town has a TinLizzie set up. I can test drive it, and if I love it, take it home for 6K. Or I can try to make myself wait until the Houston Quilt Show, in early November. I know they have them in stock there, too, so I could also bring one home. Does anyone know what the quilt show prices are? Would waiting 4 months be worth the savings I'd get?

I'm pretty sure this is the model onsite. http://www.allbrands.com/products/abp22340.html

And is this still a worthy machine????? I know it's not a Gammill, but is it a decent intro machine?

Thank you for any information!

You might contact TinLizzie and ask what the price for the same set up that AllBrands has would be at the Houston Show. Then you could compare prices and see if you want to wait. They might have extra goodies thrown in, or if it is lower than AllBrands price, you could tell AllBrands that you can get the same set up at the Houston Show cheaper and tell them the price they quoted you and maybe they'll give you that price now. Good luck.
When you contact TinLizzie ask them what's the best possible price they can give you for the set up like AllBrands has but don't mention All brands name. Then ask them if they will have the same set up at the Houston Show and what the price will be then. Try to get the info written down. You then can take that with you to AllBrands to work on a cheaper price there.

You are not likely to see that model at the show. The Queen Quilter is a discontinued model. It is still a good machine. And Tin Lizzie will still support you with parts and warranty service.

I'm going to test drive it tomorrow. I'm actually nervous. I hope I LOVE her. I WILL go into it with all sorts of info. Wish me luck!

One advantage of the Houston Quilt Show is that you can test drive other brands and decide if you really want the Tin Lizzie.

Well, THAT visit didn't go so well. The shop owner didn't know his equipment at ALL. And when the stitch regulator didn't work, he had no clue. The wires were worn, but he said he'd already ordered the new ones, just didn't have them on yet. He was swapping them out when I left.

You'd think that if someone wanted to sell a used piece of equipment, he would have made SURE it was in good working order first. It didn't even move smoothly at first. It wasn't on the tracks properly.

Soooo, the answer is not only no, be HECK NO!

Oh well. I'll keep muscling these around for a while longer. On the upside, once it was tracking properly, I loved it. The manual stitch wasn't bad at all. I managed to get a decent looking meander going. So Tin Lizzie is not on the off-list, but THIS lizzie is.
