many years ago a friend gave me a tissue holder that was sewn together and gathered at the top with a ribbon. it looked like a gift. it held a square box of tissues. i have a quilt show coming up in 2011 and i am on the committee to make some of our marketplace items. i thought this would be kinda cute and unusual. anyone know of the pattern? any other ideas besides the usual coasters, table runners, aprons?

We gave away about 150 small scissors holders at our Quilter's Day Out last month. Very cute.

Small pin cushions. The ones I liked the best was the ones that stick into the end of a spool of thread made to look like a flower. They are made on a golf tee. They were a huge hit at the Lancaster Quilt show last month.

I make little three inch quilt blocks, put a backing on them like a small pillow, stuff them witha brillo type pad and close them up. They make a cute pin cushion to put right next to sewing machine or for taking with your haand sewing. The brillow pad sharpens the pins and make them slide better.

One of the ladies on our quilting group made pin cushions from a 2 liter bottle cap that one could wear on one's finger. The cap had a cushion for the pins and elastic to put over one's finger.

Here is a cute tissue holder for the small packets:

Here is what I found for covering a tissue box:

Tons of whimsical animal box covers here, but maybe too complex:

And here, this may be the pattern you are looking for !

Rats! The pattern is inactive. But looks fairly easy to recreate.

One of our local quilt shops had a sample and a pattern like this on display. Sorry, they don't do internet orders, but maybe one of the other online shops will have it.

Speaking of tissue holders. I use the nicer toilet paper for refills. Take out the paper roller (pliers pull it right out) and pull the tissue from the inside. It lasts a long time and fits in the square tissue box. I open the bottom flaps and re tape it shut.

One thing that sold like wildfire to other quilters were BIG pincushions, the size of small pillows. The long pins did not poke through them and it was never lost in the sewing room.
