Costco has those battery powered led puck lights -- I do like that for reading in the evenings. I also have the traveling Ott light -- it folds somewhat small. Got it on sale at Joann's.

Check out the Beam-N-Read light. It is on an adjustable neck strap. It is available for various prices on Amazon. Make
sure that you get the 6 bulb newer model.

I use finger lights for both hand and machine sewing. They are tiny lights that have elastic bands to wear on your finger. Very inexpensive. I got a whole box of 40 for about $15 at Amazon. Just make sure you get the kind that beam the white light and not the ones that beam blue red or green lights.

I have a "head light" I bought at Harbor Freight that I took along to Lithuania a few years back. It works like a miners lamp. They wear it on their head. The elastic on mine is giving out and I don't really like wearing that on my head, but it does work.

Onebyone, I followed your link and I love that little lap desk with a light. I think I will order one and make a cup-holder size pincushion that I can drop in that space when I need it. Thanks so much for sharing the link. The older I get, the more light I need.

If all else fails, you can always get a head lamp, that you wear on your head, from Harbor Freight, for about $4. It has a battery and you can take it anywhere, even where there is no electricity. And it fits in a tiny sewing bag.

I love it and it was only $14.99 at my LQS.

I have the Ideaworks one and it's a good little light. It runs on batteries so no need to deal with outlets or a cord and has 3 light settings for brightness. I've actually been so impressed with it that if I run across another one in a store, I'll probably buy it.
