Default Triangle paper for mini-quilts

I was recently reading a mini-quilt pattern that called for triangle paper for HST. I'm wondering how necessary it is. It seems one would be wasting a lot of the template paper, unless the it comes in various triangle sizes.

Please help educate me on purchasing triangle paper and whether it is necessary for making HST mini-quilts (Please let me know why/why not).

Thanks,

j.

I have used Thangles before. Maybe they are just suggesting it so that you will have accurate HST. When I am doing mini quilts, I make my HST larger press them and trim them down to the perfect size.

Here's an excellent source for various sizes of HST papers. You can print just what you need. Instructions included.
I've used these for years and am extremely pleased with them.

This is the method I used, but sometimes my cutting is off. I'm too easily distracted. :0(

Why not use the tube method like Missouri Star has on? I think that would be better.
