So my in-laws are moving from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Whidbey Island, WA. My mother in law doesn't want to drive her car out there, so I will be driving it out there over memorial day weekend.

I decided even though I can think of better things to do than sit in a car for several days driving a car across country, that I could use this as an excuse to visit a few national parks, as well as some QUILT SHOPS!

So if anyone knows of, or has a quilt shop I should add to my list, please let me know. the more I can break up the monotony the better!! :)

I listed a neat little book you might be interested in. I think they have a website for the book too that would be helpful.

Enjoy your trip and don't go bonkers on fabric to lug home, lol

Actually, that sounds like a lot of fun to me. I think it's all a matter of attitude. Bet you have a fantastic trip.

Just a thought, where's Whidbey Island, WA in relation to Portland, OR? On my list next time I'm in Portland is Fabric Depot.

The islands up there are gorgeous, I grew up in Bellingham and spent a lot of time boating around there. Enjoy the scenery along with any quilt shops that are recommended.

Get yourself a "Quilter's travel companion". I got one last year before our road trip to the west coast and back. Be sure to visit Stichin Post in Sisters, OR. Too bad you won't be there in July when they have the Sisters Oudoor Quilt Show. We missed it last year on our trip, but it sounds great. We stopped along the way. Great things to see, all along the way. And the travelers companion will tell you names, addresses, phone #'s, quilt shows, all kinds of things. Hope you have a GPS. That helped us lots!! Have fun!

I just love the Pacific Northwest. You have to go into LaConnor Wa. It's not that far from Whidby Island. They have a quilt Museum there and it's just a quaint little area with lot of boutique shops. May is a good month because all the flowers should be out. I spent 12 years in Bellingham Wa. My best friend lives in Mt Vernon.
