Retta, Here is pix of Bible tote with Lutheran Rose & MS cross my QB buddy gifted me. Patterns from Embroidery Library. Think she did a wonderful job on it & am delighted with it.

Retta, think it's up to you on fabrics. What pleases you & what you think your sis would like. Luther gave a very detailed description of the rose & reasons for his choice. Here's a link.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luther_rose

Am starting a stained glass window applique somewhat like the picture on the link but adding Paul to Cor. (Love is patient, etc.) in the small rectangular squares.

Hope you post a pix of your rose, would very much like to see it.

Thought I would add this for any of you that use machine embroidery in your quilt blocks. If you put SEWBIRD'S Sews in your search engine you can go to the site where she offers LOTS of Bible verses in embroidery with many different formats for FREE !
