Does anyone know where to find a tutorial to do this? I searched on Omnigrid's site, nothing there... I discovered that my cutting mat is way off, no wonder my blocks have not been coming out the right size! Thanks in advance. I'd like a film tutorial.

I don't know of a tutorial, but I can tell you that I never use the mat for measuring.

i'm pretty new to quilting but in the fundamentals classes i took, we were taught never to use the markings on the mat. i'm not sure about the two rulers you're talking about. we only used two to line up for our first cut.

I also don't use the mat for measuring. I can fold fabric and use my rulers for just about any cut.

Personally I think cutting mats need to get rid of the markings. They are probably the biggest cause of error because they are not very accurate.

Beware using two different rulers (at least from two different companies) because they are very inconsistent. You should use the same ruler throughout a project.

Using two rulers end to end can be problematic too :D:D:D

I line up ruler #1 (24 inch) and then place ruler #2 right up against it to steady the first. I cut as far as I can against #1 and then, while still holding down #1, slide #2 higher. Then I make sure I am still holding down #2 while I slide #1 higher as well for the rest of the cut.

That is what I meant, don't use the measurements on the mat, just use your rulers. Don't you have to use two rulers? Can you cut with just one if you don't use the measurements on the mat? I really need a video because I cannot remember how to do this...
