Has anyone used any kind of Walmart fabric? If so, what has been your experience?

I find some os good and some is bad. I always wash it before I use it. I have found some very good sale fabric for 50 cents a yard.

Yes, Some is better than others, but none (in my opinion) is high quality. It is a good choice for charity quilts.

I was wondering. My sister is wanting to make a quilt, and was wondering about their flannel to make one. Not a rag quilt.

I have also seen some cottons in there that would make a cute quilt, but was afraid it would not be thick enough.

A lot of their flannels are quite heavy--check the fiber content on the end of the bolt to see if they are 100% cotton. If it is a blend of manmade fiber and cotton one may experience pilling :-( . What is pilling? It 's when little fiber balls appear on the fabric due to the fibers rubbing against each other.

I've bought lots at Walmart, and never had a problem with any of it. :)

At my local Walmart the flannel os so thin you can see thru it, so I stay away from it. When Joanns has their flannel on sale , it can be cheaper then WalMarts. Just check the quality of each fabric

Every project is not intended to be an heirloom...at least, not in my world...and I've found some really great fabric that couldn't find its way to an lqs with a map...LOL. I've also seen some fabric in an lqs that I'd never buy. I'm drawn to a fabric's color/print but I buy fabric that has a great feel/hand. There seems to be no advantage to being a fabric snob.
