I need to purchase a separate bobbin winder for my long arm. I'd like to get it ordered and received quickly. I have considered prewound bobbins however I really like my bobbin thread to match so a bunch of white bobbins will not make me happy at all. I use white very little!

Anyhoo... I know a lot of people say the K-Kraft bobbin winder is awesome and I'm sure it is but I was hoping to find one a little cheaper than that... It will be over $100 after shipping which really bums me out.

I did see one listed on Allbrands that would end up being about $75 which I know is only like $40 less than the KKraft with shipping however $40 goes a long way in fabric purchases - at least for me and if they are both equally nice then it would be a good idea to get the one from Allbrands...

I bought the Bengal one from Ebay about a month ago and love it. It winds the bobbin evenly, tight and fast. I have an "L" size bobbin and it fits great. The guy that is selling it is really nice. He said that there is a 1 yr warranty, but if something goes wrong with it or you don't like it he will return it, no questions asked. He mentioned that he had a woman that had a problem with hers after 2 years, she called them and they sent her back her $$, no questions asked. I have that in writing from the guy because I asked about the warranty. So, good luck with your decision.

How about a second sewing machine from a thrift store? Not only will you get a bobbin winder but a second machine for when your good machine is in the shop. And cheaper than a bobbin winder.
I have a Brother quilting machine that I bought at Tuesday Morning for 129 dollars years ago. It is a great second machine now that I have a good computerized machine.

Thanks so much for the info on the Bengal One - it looks nice however it is always more comforting to hear about someone else who had purchased it.

I actually own several sewing machines however I do not have the space to have yet another machine set up so I can wind bobbins. My craft room is small and if you saw pictures of it you would wonder how I get anything done at all. It is very packed and bursting at the wall joints sad to say.

I don't think the L size bobbin for the Voyager will wind on my Janome or on my Brother embroidery machine but I'll check again. For some reason I'm thinking it was a no go.

I'm going to keep my eyes on the Bengal and see if I can get it without being bid in to the ground again lol.

LOL, craftydeb, I almost bid on that very same Bengal machine this morning. It would have been funny if we were bidding against each other ;)

I went ahead and just now purchased the machine you linked to on allbrands -- if you want, I'll let you know how well it works when I get it, if you haven't purchased something else already.

I have a Voyager too and the bobbin doesn't fit on my Janome nor on my Viking. That is why I bought the Bengal. I ended up getting it on ebay for $60.00 plus shipping. So, I think I paid $72.00 for it. Sometimes he has them very expensive, as a "buy now", but if you email him and ask him if he will take $60.00 for it, he may take it. I remember it saying somewhere in his advertisement "or make offer".

rivka too funny! I have bid on the last few that came up - except for the week I was on vacation since I couldn't log on while I was gone. I know I need to get one.

Someone posted directions on how to make your own bobbin winder and although it sounds very easy to me and would be much cheaper to make one than buy one my husband said that I should buy one instead so now it's just a matter of getting one.... I am going to pick up a few prewounds to get me started until I get an actual winder....

I still have yet to tackle making my leaders. I don't know why I have such a block on making them. I just need to do it. I guess I got put off when what I read was to serge the edges - all fine and dandy if you actually OWN a serger lol.... I'll use that stitch on my sewing machine that works well enough for overlocking I guess you call it.... and just do it... then I can actually load a quilt properly! I'm hoping to get some sewing done in the upcoming week. I have a lot I want to get done and time has not been to kind to me lately. I just can't seem to shake the post vacation funk lol. I did get a bit of work done today so that's a step in the right direction!

It took me several weeks to get around to making leader cloths for my machine frame, too -- I just did it last week. There just wasn't anything particularly exciting about it, so I kept putting it off ;) I don't have a serger either, but I just used an overlocking stitch that is part of my machine, and it worked fine. My sewing wasn't as straight as I could have wished, but ah well.
