Default Wedding Guest Quilt: Part 2 (fabrics and plan)

Hello all!

I posted a little while back about the wedding guest signature quilt that I am going to be making. I have made my decision on a pattern and bought the fabric!

Here is a mock up of the pattern I'm doing. It is warm wishes on point.

Here is a numbered row chart for piecing it together.

Here is a photo of the fabrics! I went shopping today as a reward for finishing a paper for grad school.

As several people suggested, I will not be piecing the quilt together until after the signatures have been done. I'll just be pre-washing and cutting the muslin for the signature squares, ironing them to freezer paper and somehow framing them to allow for easier signing.

Wish me luck!
~Rae

Beautiful fabrics and the pattern is excellent for your purpose. Be sure to share a photo when it's done! Great planning!

Pretty fabrics! And nice layout! Are the bride and groom University of Michigan fans? (Blue and maize are our colors - go Blue)

Nope, just my wedding colors. I love them though!

I went to Elizabethtown College, blue and grey. Go Blue Jays!

Be sure and allow for the seam allowances when laying out the squares to be written on. Ask me how I know!!! LOL!!

We did this too. They are the colors for U/DE also. Love them. I thought if you could have a small hoop, put the fabric in and have the hoop on top, or a sticky board, it would be held taut. Also painter's tape might work, onto poster board. Have fun.

LOL I know EXACTLY how. Not to worry! I am cutting 6" blocks and laying a 5" paper window over it. This will also be set up to get the guest to sign the block in an "on point" orientation.

I bought 3yds of 118" wide muslin, thinking it would be easier to pre-wash, press, fold and cut than 10-12yds 44" muslin. Boy was I wrong. My 6" strips are a little wonky in places, no more than 1/8" off. Should this matter?
