I love this forum and have had so much help and advice from it. Well, here I am again. I have the basis for the quilt, but now I am stuck. My new DIL is into all things celestial, sun, stars, moon etc., and picked out the layout design from a magazine. She wants the rest to be a surprise. The attached design is as far as I have got, but now I am suffering "quilters block." I have worked out a sort of cricket logo for my son, and figured maybe a stork (as they are expecting in four months) but I can't seem to find the right applique designs for the quilt without it appearing as a horoscope sampler rather than a wedding souvenier that they would want to use on their bed. I have the fabrics as shown, but not yet purchased fabric for the applique or pieced blocks. I would value any suggestions or site recommendations.

The date of the wedding in the middle block. Maybe photos of them in the corner blocks from childhood and the time they met and dated, and then the celestial designs in the other blocks. Or celestial in the corner blocks and photos in the center top, bottom and side blocks so they are surrounded by the sun, moon, starts etc???
Personally I wouldn't put any of baby related things in their wedding quilt, save that for the baby quilt.
Good luck and post it when you are done. We love pics!

Maybe you could just do the celestial things in the corners, a cricket block, a stork block, then you only have three more to fill. Maybe one with a house, a wedding cake or bouquet, and then use Precious Memories and put their wedding picture right in the center.

QuiltingG is right, save the stork thing for the baby quilt.

Have they taken any trips together that they really enjoyed ? Like if they went to the mountains, you could put mountains in a square, if they like a sports team, maybe a logo ? I think I would save the stork for another quilt. Maybe a square for her , stars or moon, his cricket , the wedding date, and then joint interests. As the two become one kind of thing ? And if you can ta pic of the two in the center .
    GOOD LUCK& keep us posted

Thank you all for your suggestions. I think you are right about the stork and I will leave that out for the baby quilt. I don't want too many photos in it, as it is to go on their bed, maybe a small wedding photo inside a block and their faces in a sun and star. What do you think. It is a question of finding the right suns and moons. I want them to be pretty and colourful.

Do the patterns necessarily need to be applique? What if you paper pieced some different star patterns? There are some absolutely gorgeous patterns out there. Just a thought

I thought of that, but some of the blocks will from necessity have to be appliqued. I suppose I could combine applique with piecing in a single block to maintain some uniformity throughout the quilt. This is going to be one looong design project. Maybe it will be finished for their first anniversary!
