I use flannel, well washed. It stays nice and flat and glasses don't tip at the edges.

Seriously? I never thought of that! Do you wash it before using it as batting?

I also use flannel! It's pliable but sturdy and well padded.

the thing I always think about is will a delicate wine glass sit flat? or will it tip and spill? Are you going to all over quilt it or just a bit?

I have found that for me fusible fleece works the best as it's slightly stiffer than W&N batting and I think it's overall appearance and weight is something I prefer. I use W&N batting for other quilts.

I will definitely try Bree's suggestion of using felt on my next table runner... So many wonderful suggestions.
